Busy, busy beaver!

Get your heads out of the gutter! Geez! Can't be an erotica writer and say 'beaver' without certain connotations coming into your head, huh? I understand. No, what I mean is that I have a lot going on right now. For one, the Midnight Showcase publishers surprised me by not only wanting 1 sequel for my book Corporate Seduction, but they want 2! So I'll be penning (or rather typing) Corporate Desires, Madame Z's story, and Corporate Needs, which I have decided will be Princess's story. Aside from Win and May, they were the two most popular characters.

But I couldn't just stop there. Oh no! Lately I've been on this big 80's jag. No, I haven't broken out the leg-warmers and off-the-shoulder sweaters yet. It's coming! I purchased a 2-disc set of new wave 80's tunes. One song on there is my favorite, Psychedelic Furs' "Love My Way". As I listened to the song and thought about it, I said to myself, "Man, that's such a Dom song." Then the wheels started spinning. How could I write a story around that? Then I got it. Before I reveal too much, I'll just tell you that the story is going to Loose Id and hopefully it'll be out in a few months. And I'll say this. For those of you who liked Fascination Street and the BDSM aspects of Corporate Seduction, you'll enjoy Love My Way. It's the ensemble characters like Fascination Street along with some hot BDSM action. I can't wait for this story to come out!

To hear the song that inspired my story, click here.

Now I have some work to do so I have to go. Enjoy the tunes. 80's rock!

Me and "The Girls"

Oh, and Laura Bacchi (middle) and Shara Lanel (right) were there too. *LOL* Hey, I had to use all of my means to sell books! This picture is from our group signing, Wicked Words, at The Love Shack in Newport News, Virginia. We had an absolutely wonderful time. Thanks to Karen with The Love Shack for allowing us space in the store for a few hours while we sold our smut. *LOL* Actually I'm the smut peddler. The other two authors are quite gifted.

And speaking of gifted authors, big, huge, honking congratulations to Laura Bacchi who won Liquid Silver Books' Molten Silver contest with her entry Topping Tora. I've read a portion of this book. Trust me. It's hot! I have no shame in admitting that Laura Bacchi is the kind of author I avoid reading her books before I write. It's because she's so damn good I always feel I can't measure up to her. I'll contend with anyone that Laura writes the best sexual tension of anyone out there. And her sex scenes are incredible. She's the author to watch. Trust me. And I'm really thrilled that her book is an interracial romance! Whoo! Hoo!

Right now I'm working on a proposal for New Concepts Publishing. I'm into chapter 3. Keep your fingers crossed that the editor digs it enough to contract it. Sistagirl needs some money!

Okay, I have lots to do today so I really have to go. More pics and news later on.

Close but no cigar!

I was REALLY hoping to have four new releases before I went to the Romantic Times Convention a couple of weeks ago. I got close. Two works were released either before I left for the convention or the day I got there. They were "Foolish Games" through Erotique Press and Silly Fears through Ocean's Mist Press. And one was just released (albeit quietly) a couple of days ago. That's my short erotic story, "Suburbia" through Phaze. The couple in the story is married and they have sex with each other. Hard to believe coming from me, huh? *LOL* The next release should be C-A-I-N and A-B-E-L, my long-awaited (at least by me) sequel to "Adam and E-V-E". I can hardly wait to see the cover. Stacey L. King, publisher and basic Jill-of-all-trades, did such a great job with my "Adam and E-V-E" cover.

I have some other great news, too! I just signed my contract with Midnight Showcase to not only do the sequel to Corporate Seduction but to make this into a Corporate Trilogy! That's right, folks. Three books surrounding big business, BDSM and sex! I had no idea the publishers wanted a trilogy. I knew they wanted a sequel. And I have the working titles already. Corporate Desires, this will be Madame Z's story, and Corporate Needs. I'm thinking of making this Princess's story. For those who have read the book, don't you want to know what Princess does for work now?

I also just signed a contract for one of my novellas to appear in an anthology called Distant Lovers through Reality Press! My story is called "Service Recall". It's about a newly-divorced African-American woman who, by chance, has plumbing work done by an old high school crush. Or was it by chance? Hmmm. I'll never tell. Moohaahaahaa!

Okay, kiddies, Mama's gotta get to work. I owe stories to 4 different publishers. It's nice to be wanted.

Is it possible?

Just a week before I head out to the Romantic Times Convention in Daytona Beach, Florida, I'm told by three of my publishers that they'll be releasing my work either right before or the day of the convention! Count 'em, folks. It'll be FOUR works out! Erotique Press will be releasing "Foolish Games." Have you all seen that cover? Just look to your right and stop drooling. *LOL* The story is about two friends who do this sort of sexual game of "Truth or Dare" every year, only one friend is getting sort of tired of playing and wants to have the real thing. Don't you just hate it when things get all serious on you?

My next release will be my short story with Phaze called "Suburbia." Now have you all seen that cover? Since it's a shorty and a non-theme Phaze work, it gets the standard short story cover and not a special cover. But I actually like it because the duo on the cover does remind me of the characters in the story. The hero, Jason, is African-American and the heroine is White. The story is about a woman who is afraid she and her husband have lost that special spark in their marriage and she tries ANYTHING to get it back again. I guess you can say this is my version of "Desperate Housewives." Don't gasp in horror. I still haven't seen an episode of that show. I know. I know. Just me and the other people who live under rocks. I get it.

The third release may be coming out Monday, May 15th. You all have read about this book before. It's what I've been calling my clown erotica story. No, the clowns don't have sex. I promise you. It's called "Silly Fears" and it's about a woman who has a fear of clowns. She meets a man who has swept her off of her feet but who is a constant prankster. When strange things start happening around her, she wonders if he's the cause. Don't you hate when that happens? When the cute guy you've been doing could be doing you harm? Always the case, isn't it? The best guys are either married or prank-pulling murderers. Agh!

The last potential release is my long-awaited (okay, maybe just by me) follow-up to my very first published work ever called "Adam and E-V-E." The sequel is called C-A-I-N and A-B-E-L. It's another science fiction tale, this time about the doctor that helped create E-V-E. She's been left in charge to make sure two more cyborgs like E-V-E that she named C-A-I-N and A-B-E-L are fit to fight in their next war. Only if the two weren't so damned sexy! She has a hard time letting them go. When the book comes out, you'll see why.

Anyway, my publisher said that she would literally format my story on the plane ride to Florida and burn disks in her hotel room at the convention. Is that wild or what? Sorry, folks. I don't have the cover for this one yet otherwise I would put it up. I'm hoping it's just as great as "Adam and E-V-E." I still love looking at that cover.

I find it amazing that I'm sort of coming full circle. Last year at my very first Romantic Times Convention, I had my first book come out the day before I flew out to St. Louis, Missouri. And now the sequel to that book is coming out during this year's convention also. I'll say it, folks. It's been a very good year!

For those going to the convention, I hope to see you! I'll be signing as Bridget Midway so I'm hoping to be smack dab in between Cait Miller and Liddy Midnight. Can't wait to see Liddy again. She's a hoot and a half!

Slowly infiltrating the system, man!

Some people like to Google themselves (I guess they like the tickling sensation they get). Other people, like myself, like to check Amazon.com. It's always my hope and dream that I can crack the top 100 on the Amazon list. I'm just tickled to make it in as low as 15,000! Anyway, I check Amazon.com today and I see that my novel, Corporate Seduction, through Midnight Showcase is on sale there now! I'm so giddy that I race over to Barnes and Noble.com. Although they also show Corporate Seduction, they don't have the book for sale. It says they're out of stock or something and to check other bookstores for copies. I'm hoping that'll change soon and they'll start selling it on their site.

I'm just tickled to have not one but two books on sale at Amazon.com! I feel like a real author, angst and all. Now if I could only quit that pesky day job, I would be set. Then again, I would need to be rolling in some dough to do that. No, I'm not talking about literally rolling in dough. You all are some sick monkeys!

Why you sit back and laugh, enjoy some excerpts on my site.

Is it only Thursday?

I have already had an incredible week! First of all, if you all didn't hear me screaming, my book, Fascination Street, is now on sale in PRINT! You can get it from the Venus Press website or through *drum roll* Amazon.com! This is the first time I have ever appeared on Amazon.com so needless to say, I'm still beaming over that.

Yesterday I got the print copies of Fascination Street. What a great-looking book! I love the size, color, binding, everything! Even I cracked open the cover and started reading one. *LOL* I'm telling you, folks, don't wait to get your copy. It's 376 pages of fun (and sex - Hee! Hee!). I can't wait to sign copies at the Romantic Times Convention this year. I'm even trying to work a deal where a local adult toy store called The Pink Banana Boutique to start carrying my books. It's baby steps but hey, we all have to start somewhere, right?

Right now I'm in the middle of working on a novella. I'm hoping to have that done this weekend. By then I'm sure I'll have the 2nd wave of edits to do for Silly Fears, my clown erotica. I love calling it that. Then who knows what I'll do next. Moohaahaahaa!

As always, stay sexy!

You all made me NUMBER ONE!

Venus Press just released their monthly newsletter today. In it, they had the top 10 best sellers for January 2006. Well guess who ended up in the number one spot? That's right, folks. Me! My interracial erotic romance Fascination Street was the number one best selling book for January 2006 for Venus Press! If that wasn't awesome enough, wrap your brain around this concept. My book was released on January 25th! Not even at the beginning of the month or even mid-month. 6 days before the end of the month and you all still rocked the sales for me.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! You don't know what it means to me to see something like that. Of course I saved the newsletter. I need to print it and frame it to show that at one time I had a best seller!

It's not personal. Just business.

The wait is over! Hey, haven't I said that line before? Oh yeah, less than a week ago! Yikes! I didn't know Fascination Street, my release through Venus Press, and Corporate Seduction through Midnight Showcase would be released so close to each other. I haven't even gotten a review back yet for Fascination Street. But it's all good. The back-to-back releases make it seem like I'm a prolific writer, which I'm not. I swear I'm not. Just the luck of the draw.

I am very happy with this release for several reasons. First of all, you, the readers, have been asking for the release of this book for several months. I'm glad it's out there for you all to enjoy. I'm also thrilled that this is my very first book that's offered in print. You know what that means. Yep, I'll have print copies to sign when I go to the Romantic Times convention in May. If you're there, come on by and see me. I'll be the one behind those great looking pecs on the cover. Purrr!

Okay, I have to get back to work. I never rest.

Wisteria Lane ain't got sh*t on me!

I am dancing on a cloud, skipping on air, dancing with the pool boy, any analogy you want to use to describe how absolutely elated I am that my full-length interracial erotica (or erotic romance) Fascination Street has been released. Now I know what you're saying. "Why did Bridget say, 'or erotic romance'? Doesn't she know what she wrote?" Of course I do, silly! The story is about a couple that moves to a small cul-de-sac where everyone swings...and I don't mean on a swing set either. Well, I guess I could have included that scene in the book, but I'm digressing. There is a romance of sorts in the book but it's not the traditional kind.

Anyway, I'm so excited that my book is out. Now I'll have to wait and see how the sales are and what the reviewers say. *gulp* Someone hold my hand.

Wanna see something scary?

All I have to say is Jinger Heaston is the shiznit! Look at that cover! For my first interracial erotic romantic suspense (try saying that 5 times fast), that cover really knocks it out the park.

To catch you all up to speed, my novel through Ocean's Mist Press called Silly Fears is about a woman who is deathly afraid of, you guessed it, clowns. She thought she was over the fear until her cousin, the owner of a traveling circus, brings a clown act to her kindergarten classroom. Little does she know her dream man is underneath the garish clown makeup. Or will he be her nightmare?

The symbol on the upper left hand corner of the cover is an actual voodoo symbol. Don't ask me what it means. I'm just telling you what my cover artist told me. Okay, now listen to that Godsmack song called "Voodoo" and look at this cover. I guarantee you'll grab the person next to you and won't let him/her go. Hey! That's an idea! Gotta go, folks. I have someone I need to grab. "Honey, save me from that awful clown!"

Hot diggity damn!

Cover artist Jinger Heaston knocked another one out of the park! She did my cover for "Public Domain" through Ocean's Mist Press, and now look at my spiffy new cover for my full-length contemporary interracial erotic romance called Corporate Seduction through Midnight Showcase. For some of you die-hard fans out there who have been eagerly waiting the arrival of Interpersonal Skills through the same publisher, don't worry. Corporate Seduction and Interpersonal Skills are the same story. The publisher, my editor and I changed the title to entice you even more. *wink*

I'm assuming this book will still be out in February 2006. I've finished the edits. As you can see, the cover is done. Jinger has to work on the back cover but that's all. I guess Jewel (the Midnight Showcase publisher) will have to do some administrative stuff first (ISBN, etc.) then it'll be good to go. I can't wait for this book to be released. AND it will be in ebook and print for those of you who prefer your books in print.

Okay, I have some writing to do. But don't let me stop you from staring at the cover model's pecks and abs. Keep drooling away and I'll keep writing.

Resolutions

So what did I resolve in the new year? Not to make anymore damn resolutions. *sigh* I say that every year and every year I end up doing the same thing. I resolve to, say, eat healthier. I'm good for a few weeks then I'm back to my old habits.

Some old habits die hard, don't they? There are some habits I want to keep, maintain. I'm going to keep writing and being as prolific as possible. Writing makes me feel good. It's also good to see readers respond to me. You all fuel me. For that, I thank you.

So what did you all resolve in the new year? Lose weight? Quit smoking? More sex? Share. I won't tell. *S*

Here, there and everywhere!

I'm all over the web, folks. I'm a 'net ho. Is that possible? *LOL* First I'm in the Preditors and Editors' Readers' poll under best author site (did I tell you that JERR loves my site?) and under best short story-other category for "Walls". Click this link http://www.critters.org/predpoll/ to vote. You can also vote for your favorite publisher, cover artist and editor.

Literary Nymphs has Phaze as Publisher of the Month for January 2006. Not a bad way to start the year, huh? In with the profile, they have a poll on who's your favorite Phaze author. Come on. I don't ask for much, do I? Just throw a dog a bone. Please? http://www.geocities.com/literarynymphs/featured_publisher_Jan_06 Actually it looks like it's between me, Robin Slick and Eden Bradley. But the month isn't over yet so we'll have to wait to see what happens.

Okay, I'm off to work. Blah! Oh! Before I forget. Go to my website, http://www.BridgetMidway.com/ and check out my Contests page. I'm running a 2nd contest for Fascination Street called "How Well Do You Know the Neighbors"? And you thought pop quizzes only happened in school. Hey, at least this is open book, er, website. *S*

Who's laughing now?

People kept telling me it couldn't be done. "You can't write an erotic romance with clowns in it AND get it published!" Guess what, sports fans? I did just that! Whoo! Hoo! Hot damn! Noemi with Ocean's Mist Press gave me a helluva Christmas present today when I opened my e-mail and found a contract for my erotic romantic suspense called Silly Fears.

Now I did promise in a previous blog entry that I would reveal the slight twist in my story when I got a contract. The twist is that although there are clowns in the story, the story is not about clowns. (Sorry to those looking to read about clowns getting it on.) The real and true backdrop of the story has to do with voodoo. That's right. That sometimes controversial but always intriguing religion called voodoo. But admit it. Hearing something called clown erotica got you thinking, didn't it?

I'm already thinking about what I want on the cover. It's got to incorporate voodoo, hot sex and clowns. Hmmm, gotta think on that one. While I am, you all enjoy this video from the rock group called Godsmack. The song is called (what else?) "Voodoo". *LOL*

Merry Christmas to you all! I know I'm going to be drinking a little extra eggnog over this news!

For good times and bad times...

...I'll be on your side forever more!!! THAT'S WHAT FRIENDS ARE FOR. No, I'm not doing a bad impersonation of Stevie Wonder. My full-length contemporary interracial erotic romance called That's What Friends Are For has been released today through Liquid Silver Books!

Just because I know you'll ask :) here's a blurb:

Can best friends sleep together and still be friends in the morning?

A former high school cheerleader and a former high school nerd have grown up together and are now best friends. Ned is attracted to Fiona, but thinks she’ll always see him as just a big nerd. Fiona is attracted to Ned, but figures a brainiac like him would want an equally intelligent woman by his side.

So Fiona cooks up a plan that would get Ned a potential promotion at work and get her a job that she thinks will please Ned. In between the pretend relationship and the real one, sparks fly. When the truth Fiona has been hiding is revealed, will their friendship be strong enough to hold them together? Or will this be the end of the friendship that, according to their friends, should have never lasted this long in the first place?

As always, you can read an excerpt on my website or you can read it on the Liquid Silver Books site. So tell me. Can you have sex with your friend and still be friends the next day or is it impossible?

The End...and the beginning!

I'm sure you all have heard me lament over and over and over again how I've been working on the Silly Fears story. I finally buckled down this week and I finished it! Whoo! Hoo! I sent the synopsis and the first 3 chapters to Ocean's Mist Press. Keep your fingers crossed for me. It's more suspense than I've ever written before and it has an interesting twist. I keep calling it a clown erotica because it's just quick and easy to call it that. But if I call it what it should be called, it might give away the twist. If it gets accepted, I'll let you in on the secret.

So I know what you all may be thinking. "Hey, Bridget, now that you finished that story you can relax." I wish! I'm now starting a Christmas story (yeah, yeah, I know) called "Peace, Love and Understanding." Hey, what's so funny about peace, love and understanding? Sorry, couldn't resist. *LOL* In case you're scratching your head about the title, I stole it (quite liberally) from an old Elvis Costello song. I have a thing with songs, don't I? Fascination Street, That's What Friends Are For, "Peace, Love and Understanding." Hmm, problem or niche? I haven't decided yet.

Have you all noticed? I did a little upgrade on my website. I have to do that at least once a week. Go ahead. Look around. Sit down and get comfortable. I'll let you. *LOL* The next time I upgrade the site I'll add excerpts from C-A-I-N and A-B-E-L and my 2 shorts for Midnight Showcase.

Okay, I've played long enough. Time to get to work. I have a book to finish in one day! Agh!

I've only just begun to fight...

Actually it's not a fight...unless you count the 3 of us: me, myself and I. I'm midway (love that word) through my edits for Fascination Street. This is the first time I've edited something this long. As I reread the story, there's so much I want to add and change now. It's a writer thing. We're always trying to one-up ourselves. *LOL* But I'm hoping in the end I have a story that will be both provocative and appealing. If not, just don't tell me. My weak, little heart can't take it. *LOL*

Other than that, things are going spiffy! Once I'm done with the edits, I'm hoping, God, I'm hoping, I can FINALLY put Silly Fears to rest. No, I'm not talking about my own phobias. I'm talking about my clown erotica I've been working on it seems like forever. I did put a big dent in it and I'm hoping by week ending it should all be done. Then there's the revision period. That should go well though. I don't mind revising as much as I do getting the story down. Revising to me is like decorating the house after it's been built. Then I'm going to try something that'll probably kill me: a book in a day. Gasp! We'll see how it goes.

And speaking of going, I have to head to work. Blah!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

My "Chances" publisher said that my interracial, May-December erotic romance has already sold over 100 copies! Okay, again, this will not make Nora Roberts nervous. But consider this. My novella was released on November 16th so within a couple of weeks I sold that many copies! Thank you all for letting me be the first Erotique Press author to achieve this milestone. Without you all, I wouldn't be able to successfully do what I do. It would simply be a hobby instead of a dream I could actually reach.

Floating dicks, a few sales and a contract...

Well, the "In The Pink" book signing event is over and done with, and I am just winding down. Whew! What a weekend. The whole thing felt like a blur. Whoosh! I did have a great time though. Even though I had seen Devi Sparks and Robin Slick at the Romantic Times convention this past April, it was wonderful to see them again. I finally met fellow Phaze authors Jessie Verino, Jayelle Drewry and Petula Caesar. Pairing up with Leigh Ellwood and my girl, Laura Bacchi felt like old times again. I miss you being local, Laura. The T.I.E.D. folks are going to have a play party some time soon. ;) Just a suggestion.

I was REALLY happy to see my Phaze publisher, Stacey L. King, not because she is my publisher (all hail the great and powerful Stacey!) but because she surprised me by saying that she's going to offer me a contract for the follow-up story to "Adam and E-V-E" called C-A-I-N and A-B-E-L! Talk about your great surprises!

Of course I took lots of pictures of the event. As soon as I get them developed I'll post them on my website. Yes, I'm definitely old school. *LOL* It wouldn't be an event at The Pink Banana Boutique without Mr. Happy (the floating penis) hovering over our heads. I sold 21 books all together. I don't think Nora Roberts has anything to worry about. *LOL* But for me, that was pretty good. And I met a very enthusiastic fan named Cinquetta who found me on Interracial Multicultural Romance Readers. She promised to come down and see me and that she did. I was sorry she didn't win one of the 2 gift baskets, but I really hope she enjoys "Walls" and all the other books she bought at the signing.

I wish I could jaw some more but I have to go. Things to do. Stories to write. Hearts to break. Characters, not my own. *LOL*

Everything's coming up roses!

Or maybe I should say, "I love you, a bushel and a peck!" Look at those pecks! Yowsa! That, ladies and gentlemen, is the cover of my novella through Erotique Press called "Chances". Purrrr! I'm taking a break from rereading the story right now to make sure it's ready for the public. Then it'll go on sale this week! Whoo! Hoo! And I just got the thumbs up from the publisher that I can sell copies at the "In The Pink" book signing this Saturday. Can my day get any better? So that'll be 2 new books I'll be signing on Saturday. I love it.

Okay, I've been playing around long enough. Time to get back to work. I have a story to finish and books to sell!
