So I got 2 rejections yesterday. I thought I would feel really bad about it but I didn't. I guess once you've been rejected as many times as I have (insert 'didn't go to prom joke' here) then it just becomes water off a duck's back or something. Wait. I'm a writer. I need to be original. Uh, it becomes an ankle alarm on Martha Stewart's leg. Damn. No wonder I got rejected! Sheesh!
I had to put things in perspective. I'm writing. I don't do it full time like I want to but I am writing. I sometimes get paid for it. Also a good thing. And I'm happy. I knew I was going to get rejected way before I got the e-mails. But I'm glad I got them because now I feel like I can move on. I did the whole "big pub" thing. I'm really pleased with lighting my own path. And I'm also a firm believer in karma. I'm still rubbing my Cindy Cruciger bag that I still carry in my purse since I got it back in April of this year. It's been good to me so far. That and my undying will to succeed.
Hopefully soon you all will see the cover of my full-length novel, Fascination Street. I just sent in the cover I approved. Just waiting for the art director to approve it and add a Ebony Side icon to it and it'll be done. Then the fun starts: editing. Blah! I've never edited a full-length novel before. This should be interesting.
Okay, have to finish this novella I've been working on for what seems like forever and a day! Wish me luck with it.

Getting closer to world domination!
Our "Three The Hard Way" booksigning event at The Pink Banana Boutique in Virginia Beach, Virginia went over smashingly well! Got a lot of great feedback from both customers and the sales associates in the store. So pleased was my publisher over the news that she wanted to do another signing there...only bigger! So now we're going to do another signing on November 19th at The Pink Banana and call it In The Pink. Ohhhhh! Sexy, huh? This time there will be more authors. Click this link to see who's on the line-up. You might be surprised! http://www.phaze.com/InThePink.htm
The day of the signing I met two people from an organization I've been dying to meet. It's called T.I.E.D., Tidewater Individuals Exploring Domination. I sent them a passionate e-mail in April begging them to let me sit in on a meeting because I have BDSM elements in Fascination Street and Interpersonal Skills. I wanted to make sure I had done the scenes correctly. Well I had never heard from them. So when they showed and introduced themselves I was over the moon. Apparently Dama, the PR person for T.I.E.D. and a mistress, had e-mailed me...twice! I never got her mails. So she invited me and Laura Bacchi and Leigh Ellwood to their cookout the next day. I was the only one available the next day so I went and I had a wonderful time! We did something at the cookout, an outside venture if you will, that I will have to include in one of my prequel stories I have planned for Fascination Street. At the end of the day, Dama asked if I would lead a workshop on the erotica publishing market, what publishers are looking for and what to expect. So that's how In The Pink came about. If possible, we would love to hold a workshop the night before the event. Great tie-in, don't you think?
Onto other news, a publisher asked to see the completed manuscript for Fascination Street. Might be that much closer to publication, folks. Keep your fingers crossed.
Okay, I have to go. I've gotten so much flack for not updating my blog. Happy now, Stacy? *LOL*
Oh! I almost forgot! My newest erotic short story is on sale now at Phaze! It's called "Walls". I've gotten one stellar review already. Fame looks good on me. *LOL* It's a big departure from what I normally write. Please check it out.

I got my ass!
FINALLY the poster I ordered from Cafe Press with my new cover for my short story "Walls" came in today! Found it on my porch when I came home for lunch. That juicy tushy looks better bigger than it does on the website. Now I need to mount it. The picture, silly! I know it can't mount me! Going to put it on a hard back and get a stand so I can set it up.
Now I'm just waiting for my biz cards. They have both the "Adam and E-V-E" cover and the "Walls" cover. I'm so clever. I won't know what to do with myself when I get a cover for "Chances" through Erotique Press. Sigh. Decisions, decisions.
Okay, have to go play with the group from eCatareaders!

I did it!
Thanks to a lot of votes (hee, hee!) my short story "Civic Duty" was a weekly winner in the BetterSex.com erotic fiction contest. Whoo! Hooo! I have another step to go through before they'll declare the winner on August first so keep looking out for that news.
In case you hadn't heard, I have 2 contracted works: one with Phaze.com called "Walls" and one with Erotique Press called "Chances". Actually the real name of it was "Chance" but the contract had "Chances" and before I startd my sistagirl head roll I realized that the story was really about giving more than one chance. So it does fit. See, I am a nice person!
I'll have excerpts to both on my website soon so watch out for that.
Wish I could stay longer and chat but I have to earn a living. Blah! Come on, folks! Buy my books so I can write full time. Is that so much to ask for? *LOL* Kidding.

Phase (or is that Phaze?) II complete! World domination next!
You would probably never know it from reading my posts but I'm really anal retentive. Yep, it's true. I can show you the diamond I made when I shoved a lump of coal in between my cheeks, I'm so damn tight! So all of you know from reading my site and reading my blog posts that Laura Bacchi, Leigh Ellwood and I have an upcoming booksigning at an adult toy store called The Pink Banana Boutique. I have a vision of doing media blitzes at certain stages of this process. Yesterday I called it Phase II. That's where I took to the store a bunch of flyers and Laura dropped off some of her business cards (had a dripping hose on it. I don't get it. *LOL*) So last night I faxed the local media about our little shindig. And today I'll drop off the store posters and some of my business cards. Man, hard to believe that in about a month, I'm going to be sitting inside of an adult toy store and doing a book signing! And the people in The Pink Banana Boutique have been ultra-supportive. For our first time doing this, it has been a great experience so far!
Okay, have to run out to my favorite store in the world: Wal-Mart! All hail Sam Walton! Then off to see a friend for his birthday. Shhh! It's a surprise! Hee! Hee!

Dance: 10, Looks: 3
The subject line came from a lyric in a song in the musical "A Chorus Line". The song is aptly named "Tits and Ass". Gotta love it. Well, I picked it because I just read a review of my science fiction erotic romance novella, 'Adam and E-V-E'. The reviewer seemed to like everything about my story. She said she liked how the characters developed, the sex scenes were hot (apparently hot enough for the reviewer to reach for a toy and I don't mean a Slinky!) and the story was unique. So why did I get a 3 out of a possible score of 5? So my story made you want to masturbate. You enjoyed the characters. But there was just something you couldn't put your finger on that made you give me an average score. Yeah, I understand...NOT!
I don't know why I'm letting this bother me. It's one score out of, well, so far 3. But I'm working on it! It's just like in high school. I may have had a report card with 5 A's and 1 B and I'll kick myself over the 1 B. It just gives me something to work on for my next book, which by the way may be a sequel to 'Adam and E-V-E'. Stay posted for details.
But for now, I have to get going. There's a chat going on and I'm about to miss it!

Winners, losers and naked men
After a long month of running my website contest, I have finally picked a winner. That winner is Jackie Wisherd! Whoo! Hooo! Way to go, Jackie! She gets a free download of "Adam and E-V-E", autographed bookmarks, a bookfloss signed by the artist, a 1940's style journal and chocolate, chocolate, chocolate! Hope she's not allergic to the stuff. Because I know how I am when I win things, I'm not wasting any time. I've already sent her the story. Now this morning I'm going to mail off her gift pack. Yeah, I know the post office is closed and it won't get mailed until tomorrow anyway. But it's one less thing off of my plate.
So now I'm going to be doing another contest. This time I want readers to be creative. I want them to come up with their versions of what E-V-E stands for or they could even do it with Adam's name. I found it kind of difficult to come up with a creative name for E-V-E that truly captured her true meaning. But maybe there's someone out there who can do it better. I'm always up for a challenge!
You all probably read my last post where I lamented about getting a story rejected and having a book review site pass up reviewing "Adam and E-V-E". Well, that same day another review site e-mailed me and said they would love to review my novella. I also got the green light from another publisher to submit more work even if it's a simultaneous submission. Gotta love that!
And last but not least, because I'm sure you're all wondering, the penis line in my subject line. Yesterday I went to an open house at a nudist resort. It was for research. Yeah, that's it. Research. I did get a receipt for going since this was my second time here so I'll slip that to my accountant and see what he says. If he's anything like the accountant in my story, "That Time of Year" then I'm in trouble! *LOL* But I had a great time and I can't wait to go back again.
Okay, I'm played around long enough. Time to get to work. Hope you all have a lovely day. I'm hoping I'll have a better week. Wish me luck!

Just want to stay in bed...not for a good reason either
Ever have those weeks where you just wanted to stay in bed and not look at anyone for a day or a week or a month or a century? I'm kinda going through that right now. It's been a week of highs and way down lows. First of all, got my first great review on the Romance Divas website! Now that made my day! I had to tell everyone and my mother about that. Wait. Damn! I forgot to tell my mother! I'm such a bad daughter. I should be spanked. Oh wait. That's another site and another conversation. Moving on.
I also found out that I got the big reject from the 2006 Best Women's Erotica anthology from Violet Blue. I figured when I didn't hear anything in a few months that I wasn't in the running anymore. *sigh* Can't say I didn't try. Then a book review website turned down my request to review "Adam and E-V-E". My mommy said my story is special. *S* God, I'm pathetic.
I can hardly wait to see what tomorrow has in store for me. I need to find that white magic bag I got from Cindy Cruciger when I was in St. Louis and rub it for good luck. I've kept it in my purse since the convention. I'm not giving it up just yet!
Okay, time to get back to work. On the upside, I did mail off my first contest winning gift pack to Cachel C. in Mississippi. She won an "Adam and E-V-E" gift pack through Romance Junkies. I'll be mailing out another one this weekend when I announce my guestbook winner. Stay tuned!

The scream heard 'round the world
Talk about ignoring signs and being given a second chance. My poor little laptop, which has been working overtime these last few months, finally went kaput the other day. Earlier in the week, though, I had heard a little grinding noise inside of it. Yeah, the rest of you know what I'm talking about. I just hoped the poor thing had the hiccups. So after leaving it alone over night, I turn it on the next morning to find nothing! And I mean nothing. I freaked. I panicked. I had my nearly completed manuscript for Fascination Street on my hard drive. Let that be a lesson for you kiddies. Always back your stuff up! So after cursing, crying and praying (although I'm sure God was going, "Who is that on my Caller I.D.? I don't recognize that number.") I was given a reprieve the next day when for some strange reason, my computer worked. So, you guessed it, I backed everything up and took as much as I could off of my hard drive. Good thing. The next day it really crashed. No amount of sweet-talking or cursing was going to bring it back to life either.
So I buckled down and went to Comp USA, the devil's playground, and got myself a hard drive and had it installed. I've been spending most of my day loading all of my favorites and other software back onto my computer. Another lesson for you munchins. Don't rely on a computer! Yeah, I say this with a book on e-book and another slated to come out in July or August. I'm a slave to the circuitry. What can I say?
But on the upside, I managed to secure a spot for a booksigning for myself, Laura Bacchi and Leigh Ellwood for July 16th. The spot: The Pink Banana Boutique, a fine adult toy store. I'm excited. There's so much I need to do to get ready for that day.
Just needed to share that before I get back to work. Enjoy your day. Sorry I kept you all up with my screaming and crying...and not the good kind either.

Tagged for migrating purposes!
That darn Laura Bacchi! She tagged me with a blog tag. I have to answer 5 of these things from this list and pass it on to someone else.
If I could be a scientist...
If I could be a farmer...
If I could be a musician...
If I could be a doctor...
If I could be a painter...
If I could be a gardener...
If I could be a missionary...
If I could be a chef...
If I could be an architect...
If I could be a linguist...
If I could be a psychologist...
If I could be a librarian...
If I could be an athlete...
If I could be a lawyer...
If I could be an innkeeper...
If I could be a professor...
If I could be a writer...
If I could be a backup dancer...
If I could be a llama-rider...
If I could be a bonnie pirate...
If I could be a midget stripper...
If I could be a proctologist...
If I could be a TV-Chat Show host...
If I could be an actor...
If I could be a judge...
If I could be a Jedi...
If I could be a mob boss...
If I could be a backup singer...
If I could be a CEO...
If I could be a movie reviewer....
If I could be a scientist I would find that female scientist who blinded that guy who's always screaming "She blinded me with science!" and ask her why she did it. (Okay, so I'm a product of the eighties. Go listen to Wham UK! and kiss my behind!)
If I could be a farmer I would grow plenty of fruits and vegetables to keep my community fed, happy and healthy. Then I would grow pot to keep those teenagers eating! It's the circle of life, folks.
If I could be a missionary my knees wouldn't hurt so much when I'm on top and...wait, it said if I could be a missionary and not if I was in the missionary position. Whoops! Moving on.
If I could be a chef I would compete on "The Iron Chef" and would hope to get a secret ingredient like an octopus or a live shark or maybe Newt Gingrinch. Hey, he's been asking for it for a long time! Time to make rump roast out of the man!
If I could be a mob boss I would have someone in my group named Big Dick instead of Big Pussy like on "The Sopranos"...and he'd better live up to his name too!
Okay, I think I'm done. Did you learn anything about me that you didn't already know? That's what I thought. I guess now I'll pass this on to my fellow Phaze author, Leigh Ellwood.

It's official!
I have crossed over into that well-known but sometimes dreaded world of running a *gasp* contest! What I'm hoping is to at least get one person to do it. All I'm asking is for people to sign my guest book. I feel like a geeky teenager in high school trying to get the cool kids to sign my yearbook. "Sign my yearbook, please." "Please, be my best friend!" Okay, so not that sad and pathetic but close enough.
I just want to make the contest fun and exciting...okay, and generate some sales. Is that a bad thing? Meanwhile, I still have some work to do. Those words and characters just don't appear in my laptop on their own. I have to put them there.
Okay, enough playing. Time to get down to business. Hope I get a lot of responses for my site. If not, I'll be jumping off of the Empire State Building on June 3rd.

Biting nails and promotion ideas
Last night I sent the editor of Phaze.com the first three chapters of Fascination Street, an erotica I've been working on since about mid-February. What am I saying? You all know that if you've been on my website and looked at my calendar, right? *waiting for the sounds of crickets to die down before moving on*
Anyway, I reread and sent them in like good little soldiers. "Fight my battle, honey! Bring me a head on a stick!" Whoops! Wrong battle. Cross your fingers for me, you all, that she digs it and digs the idea of the 4 spinoff stories. Can we say 'securing a steady job'? I knew you could!
I feel so scatterbrained. Did I mention that Erotique Press dug my novella, "Chances"? The editor there asked if I could change a couple of things and if so I could be published with them by July or August of this year. Not bad, huh? Wished my mainstream work went this fast! But that's another story and a whole different persona.
There are a couple of contests coming up and I really need to get my butt in gear and start entering. I can't become a famous author by sitting back and waiting for things to happen.
So that leads me nicely into my next point: promotion. I've been joining sites and begging to be promoted on them. Promoting myself is harder than writing the damn book! But that's my cross to bear, folks. You just have to sit back and enjoy my work.
Okay, not a lot of time on my lunch break so I have to go.

What happens in St. Louis stays in St. Louis!
Well as you can well imagine, I am having a wonderful time in good ol' St. Louis, home of the Cardinals (so I've been told) and the rap star, Nelly. Do you know they actually have his picture in their St. Louis magazine as an attraction to their fine city? I guess that's when you know that you've arrived when you make it in your city's attraction magazine.
So my first booksigning. Hmm, what can I say? It was great! I came in with 15 discs. (Okay, so I'm no Laurell K. Hamilton, Christine Feehan or Heather Graham but I'm working my way up to it.) But I sold 14 of them! Whoo! Hooo! How cool is that? And since a friend of mine back home asked to buy one, technically I sold all of them. Considering "Adam and E-V-E" was released this past Monday, March 25th, I thought selling more than what I sold to my sister was a bonus! Apparently it was enough to impress my publisher. That's what REALLY counts!
I met some great authors and attended some really worthwhile workshops. Today I'll spend the entire day siteseeing. The Arc has been outside of our hotel this whole time and I have yet to go out and really take a good look at it. I'm trying to convince my sister (site owner for www.ThunderandRoses.com) to do our last dinner at the restaurant on the top floor that spins around. How cool would that be?
Okay, two more fun events for today and then I'm heading home tomorrow. But as my first RT experience, this did not disappoint me. Very laid back and fun. And watching all of the manmeat didn't bother me either. *LOL*

The sound barrier has been broken
Aaah!!!! I can't believe it! Just by chance, I check the Phaze.com website last night just to look at my cover and see if there were any new updates. My novella, "Adam and E-V-E" is on sale NOW! I wasn't expecting it to go on sale this soon. I've been trying to drum up sales without being a pest. That's hard. But I'm so happy that I actually have a work out for sale. People can buy a story I created. That's an awesome feeling, let me tell ya'!
So now that I've updated my website and worked out my daily blog, I need to fix something to eat. I have a huge day in front of me. I have to make sure I'm all packed and ready for RT tomorrow. Big day. Big event. I hope I don't get swallowed up in it. Gulp!

Wet hair and an overstuffed suitcase
I know I'm close to being ready to go to the RT convention but I feel so behind. I feel like I'm missing something. It's all happening so fast for me that I'm a bit overwhelmed at times. In a matter of months I've gotten a novella accepted, about to be published and I'm going to be signing it at a huge conference. Talk about your coming out parties! Aside from packing, I still have gifts to buy and a website to update since I mentioned I would be offering a contest. Me and my big, adorable mouth. And I have to practice signing my name. Don't want to slip and sign the wrong name. I would do that because I'm an idiot.
So I'm sitting here with conditioner in my hair. My plan of packing one suitcase into another so I can bring more stuff home is not going to work. Hey, what can I say? I'm a woman and I love shoes. I could fill one suitcase full of shoes. But I won't...this time. And I have to finish that story for Erotique. I can't believe how behind I got this weekend. And look at what I'm doing now. Damn it! Damn blog. It's addicting, I tell ya'!
Okay, going to rinse and write in that order. Then spend all day tomorrow packing for real and getting all of my goodies together. St. Louis, here I come!

My first booksigning!
I've posted this everywhere but I just had to put it here to make it real...at least for me. It's that whole, "If a tree falls in the woods..." sort of mentality I have. If I don't share, then it's not happening.
Anyway, I've stalled long enough. I got news from my editor with www.Phaze.com that I'll be signing disc copies of my novella, "Adam and E-V-E" at the Romantic Times convention this week! And here I thought I was just going to go and smile and give out my candy. I actually have to work! But that's a good thing. I've been wanting to do this writing thing for years. It'll be great to be able to do a book signing and show off the fruits of my labor. I'm going to call it grape but you can pick any fruit you want.
Now I need to make up my candies to give away and finish writing this novella for Erotique. I'm starting to suck with my deadlines!

It's 2:30 a.m. Do you know where my head is?
Good morning, all. Man, what the hell am I doing up this early? Had a hard time sleeping. I'm working on a story for Erotique Press. It's not working out the way I wanted to and I promised to have it to the editor this weekend. Thought sleeping on it would help. Only made it worse. I kept thinking about the story, the characters, the conflicts. If you're a writer then you know what I'm talking about.
On a good note, the editor of Phaze.com where my first novella, "Adam and E.V.E." will be published liked my final edits. Whoo! Hoo! Again, if you're a writer, you know that feeling too. She's going to clean up the formatting and send it off to be proofed. With any luck, I'll have disk copies of it to sign at the booksigning in RT (I guess). I'm not sure how that goes. Gee, is my novice showing? Haa! Haa!
I also want to rework a couple of short stories for the Phaze.com Heatsheet Sparklers contest. What can I say? Once a contest slut always a contest slut.
Okay, now I'm just stalling. I'm going to finish this damn story by breakfast if it kills me! Hopefully it won't. I want to be able to sign my novella at the convention (or not, still not sure if that's what I'm doing.) Sigh. It's a bitch being so new at something. I feel like a virgin again!
